Well... With the spawning, I won't have to worry about feeding the corals for a while lol.. My sump stinks though.. This clam is putting out some serious goo lol. I hope she's ok.

I'm going to do a 20% (45 gallons or so) water change tomorrow. Clean the skimmer cup good tonight and turn it up a tad to skim wetter than normal... Luckily, my first Santa Monica 100 algae scrubber will be here Monday. So I'll get right on the ball installing it. Hopefully I won't see any major backlash from all the extra nutrients in the water. I sure hope the calm is ok.

It's very normal for clams to spawn when stressed...it happens all the time when we get new shipments in...if one starts it they all follow suit...kind of cool to see 30 or 40 clams all spawning...I always do a water change right away, but I've not seen any serious issues even with that many spawning...it doesn't take much to induce spawning in most clam sp...I've seen clam farmers adjust the temp by just a few degrees to cause their clams to spawn. Don't get me started on clam farming though, LOL! A large scale clam farm is kind of a dream of mine.

Awesome, thank you for the info. That makes me feel much better! I have been sitting here watching her in the moon lights. It's really cool.
And the corals are getting fed lol.

It's now been 2 days since the spawning event. And she's still not opened up again... I'm getting worried. She's not closed tight, has a few flaps sticking out.. but still mostly closed up.

Thank you!! It looks even better now. I'm going to get some new shots of the whole tank in the next week or so.

I still can't believe it was only $150!
