John's 12 gallon Fluval Edge Madagascar Lace pic 4-6-13

So I started this tank up last weekend. I chose not to use the base so I had to remove the tabs and inserts with my Dremel. I also lowered the height of the filter so it would not cascade into the tank. Again I used the Dremel to remove a section from the back piece and from the entrance collar on top of the tank.

I intend to add some Anubias to the tank to complete the aqua scape. I am attempting to see how the LEDs do that come with the tank. It totals 4.6 watts with 42 LEDs, three of which are blue and can be used as moonlights. The fixture is rated at 7600K by Fluval.



The water is a little hazy from the root wood staining the water and possibly from the substrate of Seachem Flourite.

 

I moved the Sparkling Gouramis to this tank so the shrimp will not have to deal with the stinkers in the Biocube. May add a few more fish in the future but have not decided which yet. May go with Neons or Lemon Tetras.

hello John, after reading this thread and your other thread, I'm intrigued and just happen to have a new eco pico 5G thats still dry and am looking for ideas. If I did a planted tank, I think I'd like some inverts/amphibians etc with a few fish, and lower maintence like yours, no CO2 preferably.

It looks like a South American biotope systems.

The dark substrate and the wood with the lighting makes it looks mysterious.
