I'm loving it John! Hope to keep one of those someday but I have a question: how the hell do you keep nitrates under 5ppm? that sounds tough to do.

Its simple if you follow some simple rules. Keep your bioload small.(Don't put so many fish or inverts in). Keep up with your W/C'S. Don't overfeed.(once every three days works for me.) Buy a good quality skimmer. Find your tanks balance.8)

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    +1

Which does not happen in weeks and months. The more established the tank the easier to reach that balance and maintain it.

    Thanks

Once your tank is well established and and you have a good and aggressive maintenance routine you will be able to control the nitrates through export, using chemical and natural means such as GFO and macroalgae, and through bacterial reduction which occurs on your live rock and in your sand.

Thanks, they seem to be rapid growers for me. I have a Pocillopora I got 3.5 months ago and it is about 4 times the size of when I got it. Must have something right for them. I could get rich if I knew what that something was. LOL
