I didn't mean to come off aggressive if that show you take it. You make some good points. I just feel that because outside of a microscopic analysis nobody can tell for sure what strand of Dino they have the multiprong approach is a way of weakening the Dino.

Just a blackout alone does do damage but it isn't 100 effective. I know because I did it twice before my final realization to no avail.

So when my final attempt worked it was an aha.

Maybe it was just the blackout along with the ultra algea x. Maybe it was indeed everything. But we cannot conclusively dismiss any part of my attempts.

Fyi : no coral were harmed and or stressed during my war with Dino.

How does wrapped light out tank affect the fish? I'm desperate now Ive lost all my fish except 3 cardnals, and most of my corals are gone.

No effect. Keep feeding them through a small hole. Fish will be fine.

Thanks for the response. I can move the three cardinals into my sons tank.my tank is extremely bad looking now. If I blow stuff off or try to remove it just gets worse. Water changes only lasted 2 day. I also have a sea hare that I think I may take back to the LFS I don't see any dent that the Sea Hare has contributed to help. It will likely leave it in. I hope I can remove it without making it Ink my tank, then I will black out the entire tank. Will vodka or peroxide also help or not? .

Black out as long as you can stand it. At least 3 days but 4 or 5 is better. After that don't turn the lights back on. Uncover the tank, watch a week then go to a little blue light and slowly increase while looking for any signs of dino.

    Good luck.

image.jpg Hey all. Wanted to give an update.

Unfortunately not good news. Still battling the dreaded dark menace. I did a 4 day blackout with the tank fully wrapped and refuge light out. I hooked up a canister to run GFO and carbon with poly pads to pull out any dead nasties. They came back within 2 days with the Hydras set low.

My next move is to do nothing. I've stopped testing and dosing everything but kalk. I'm going back to basics. I turned the flow up on my uv to the high end of the recommended gph. I am focusing on keeping everything stable and keep maintance up.

Gonna try and beat it old school with stable quality water and see if they give up because I'm not.

Slassco. The Hydras give too much light. The dino was gone after the lights out, but not completely. Light needs to come back only very slowly. You're better off leaving the lights off for two weeks than risking turning them on too soon.

Along with my successes, I've had what happened to you happen to me as well. It means the light came up too fast. Hit it again and go much slower.

Also note while my experience is UV doesn't help, if it did, then turning up the flow is going in the wrong direction. The lower the flow, the longer the exposure time and the more killing power.

Yeah, they're a mystery. Mine are still there a year later but they only show up in a very small patches and then they're gone again. I pretty much do nothing special. I do blast them or suck them out manually sometimes.

Don't forget you you need to remove it. When I have cyano I treated with meds but removing it helped a lot
