You are young yet. Make your money now. Start putting away into retirement. Think about it NOW. That is one thing I have done pretty well at over the last 15 years. But I wish I had started earlier. And been more aggressive with my 401Ks and Roth IRAs. Never too late to start. But it is a must.

 

i tell my kids the same john. but i understand their live now mentality. but i know it will eventually come out, dad you were right again. lol

 

Already on that . I have a Roth IRA, a nice stock portfolio, mutual funds, etc.

could be in at a great time zach. i think you will get some good long term results from this. theres still a few more speed bumps to go, but will be smooth sailing fairly soon.

 

Thanks - that's my hope. Invest, save when and where I can, etc. Owe what I know to my Dad, he helped set everything up for me several years ago. Very wise man.

When the market crashed, it hurt - but, it only harms you if you pull out. Ride the waves, let everything settle, and you'll come out on top in the long run.

 

alot of friends asked me back in november what to do. 1st thing i said, dont look at any of your statements. will make you sick and get in panic mode. sounding like a vulture, those are my favorite type investors. but good you rode it out , was so many great opportunities then. and still are.

 

Rode mine out too. When 9/11 happened I lost half of my investments. Then they grew and surpassed the old total over the next several years....it evened out. With this last thing, I lost about 40%. Not bad. Could have been worse. My biggest account is already starting to inch up. I haven't been checking as much as usual. About once every two months.

 

big difference up here is our market is mostly commodity based. plus our banks didnt have the same exposure that yours did. the regulations wouldnt allow it. with your weak dollar , its helped with the price of oil, gold and all the other metals. and our banks basically have licence to "print" money with their fees and interest rates they can charge. our higher ups have declared us out of the recession. housing prices didnt drop no where near what happened down there. and the prices are basically back to the levels they were when all the doom and gloom started. maybe our dollar will be on par again with the u.s dollar. make it cheap for us canucks to head south.

 

I own 90% of GM. So do you guys though too. Still wondering why I am not getting any returns on it though.
