I take it FW is not as popular as SW?

We have a sm freshwater tank too. They lady wanted something to care for without dealing with the science of the reef.

...on a side note, we bought one of the newer 12gal tall Fluval Edge tanks months back and it cracked during the night a few days after we set it up and leaked about 3 gallons out before we caught it. I'm still angry about that. We did get a new one for free but haven't set it up yet.
I don't know if I will either. It's beautiful but a real PITA to clean\manage. Due to the design, the water spills out of the neck if you need to stick your hand\arm in for anything. ...and the stock filter isn't nearly enough. I want to rig it with a canister filter if I do end up setting it up.

I started my aquarium experience with FW tanks Learned my chemistry and lots of beautiful fish as well.
Still to this day my favorite fish was this big fat Black Mollie that i loved so much,She once gave birth in my tank ,woke up and had 20 new mini mollies everywhere. Love freshwater planted aquariums as well keep posting But remember this site is callef 3 reef..lol

 

I really miss my old Discus tank.

 

I have a 75 salt and 55 freshwater. Whenever I go to shut the FW down I look at my Tetras, Angels, dwarf frogs smile and keep it going. I really want to make my 55 a sump for the salt but will most likely just keep it going. It really takes nothing to run it. Well nothing compared to the reef tank

 

Don't get me wrong I love SW as well, matter of fact I had one over 20 years ago. Who knows I might go back after a couple of years. Plus this is a great way to get my wife on board without dropping a couple grand.

I'd guess that probably 99% of reef hobbyists have kept freshwater tanks. I did for years and had multiple little tanks running as a kid. I still miss having several beautiful freshwater angel fish. I do still keep FW with an outside pond and some comets. Nature recently added a very cool frog to the mix

 

Maybe I will indulge your lost love for angel fish, I like them as well.
