    I dont want this to come across wrong but if you dont know how to take a good photo then it doesnt matter how good a camera is you wont get the same quality of picture you might see other people producing. I consider myself a novice photographer and it is a very steep learning curve stepping up to dslr's I have found.

    I personally bought an excellent used Canon for half the retail price and after a about 3 months I am only just starting to get what I think is average photographs. I know I am in the UK which means we automatically pay more for everything but for a first I definitely recommend a used one. I did buy a 90mm macro as it was substantially less than the 100mm for me.
