It really bugs me if I have to put my hands in my tank. Why you ask?

    1. I have got to scrub down.
    2. It's impossible to get all the residue and oils off your skin.
    3. Once your in you might as well finish some tasks that are nagging at you.

My goal is to go 5 days and no hands in the tank at all, no touching system water.

Am I over thinking this? Can corals withstand a lot more handling than I think?

Probably about once every few days. I have a Nuvo 16 so if it was major harm to put my hands in I'd imagine my tank would go south quicker than bigger ones. I do try not to right after I've showered or washed my hands with soap.

It might be my imagination but I notice my corals look better the less I put my hands in the tank. It seems every day though a coral gets knocked off regardless of if that coral has been glued down. I resist moving corals unless they are immediate danger.

i think my hermits like my hands in the tank. I can almost see them smirking at me as they are knocking over frags.

I have frequently thought about this but it seems everyday my hand ends up having to go into the tank. Probably not helping anything at all. This reminds me I still have a frag sitting on my sandbed which needs to move back up. Taking the plunge again.

It's actually harder than you think. I have to make a plan, if I am going to move a frag then I get done everything else I have to do in the tank as the same time ie:change out charcoal, empty skimmer cup, moved whatever has to be moved.....I make a HUGE effort not to move frags or colonies.

It does make it a lot easier to stay out of the tank when you have 1 fish and no mobile inverts.

Today is day 1, let's see how long I can go without getting my hands wet.

Everyday multiple times a day or for prolonged periods. I can't imagine it being THAT bad. Especially if you run carbon and gfo and some organic remover (purigen, chemi pure, etc)

I'm a tinkerer. If I look at the tank I always find a reason to get my hands in there. I rarely ever wash them before they go in. Am I being that irresponsible?

Everyday for me also. Always tinkering. Been putting my hands in tank for 17 years, no issues so far.
