    Anything that is moist can carry the parasite into your system. Cryptocaryon irritans is only parasitic to marine fish. The protozoa is only visible for a short period of time during the life cycle. It is not the same organism as the fresh water form of ich. Marine ich encapsulates on hard surfaces so it can be found on hard surfaces and in the sand bed, but in that specific stage it's not feeding off the fish.

    The life cycle is complicated, but it's essential to review it to effectively treat the disease.
