I'm not exactly sure where to put this but i hardly have any water movement at the top of my tank. It should be moving like crazy but is just circling around a little bit.

For flow i have the vortech mp 20, maxijett 1200 pointed towards the top of the tank, and my skimmer. I have the vortech on reef crest mode and a little more than half way up to the top.

In my puffer's 20 gall i have a crazy amount of water movement at the top with one maxijett 1200, i would think i would get movement like that in my 46 with all my powerheads.

Why is the surface of my tank hardly moving when it should be moving like crazy with how much flow i have?

here's a pic theres like nothing

I would think you should. With all the movement in your tank you should be seeing some surface aggitation. My MP40 is about 8" from top of the PH to the surface. Its set on reef crest mode set about 70% and I can tell when it speeds up and slows down by watching the surface of the water.

from the pic it looks like you have an ok amount of movement. If you really want more (I don't you need much more) then try moving the powerhead up a little in the water column.

An Aquaclear filter would help with surface agitation, plus you get the benefit of carbon and other media to help take out some of the gunk in the water column.

btw, your firefish looks beautiful! :) Glad to see him out in the open and swimming.

Tilt the thing on your outlet of your mj1200 so it shoots towards the top or maybe put it on the opposite end of the mp20, it also looks like there something stuck in there, but i dont know, maybe its just the picture

Yeah, try angling your powerheads differently.

your aqua scape looks great, good job puffer.
To get more surface ag. bring your vortecs up a bit and take your 1200 mj and tilt them a little sideways and aim the jet off to the front center of the glass to it blasts the glass and is directed upward. Also take off the multi jet diffuser tip so you are left w only the round tip.
