days camkha1234, you can speed things up by moving a few of the snails to more troubled areas. I put 5 snails on one of my worst rocks for GHA and they cleaned it up in no time.

Update: The hermits ate 2 more of my snails  I set the lighting period for 6 hours this morning. We'll see how it goes.

Agreed on the snails; my ceriths (both dwarf and large) are doing a number on my GHA. It does take some time though.

i think you really only have one option left here if dont have the money to buy a phos ractor ( they are relatively cheap online) but i think you need to do 3 days of darkness.

your corols will be fine by it, they wont look so good when the lights get turned back on but after a week or so they will be fine, this should do some serious damage to the GHA and can see from there what happens.

If you have a filter of any sort, place a sock filter with some GFO in it. It's a cheap alternative to a reactor, albeit not as effective.

Also, the source of phosphate needs to be identified. Do you feed a lot?

I've tried PhosGuard with no success. Is GFO better? Also, I feed every 2 days.

I'm about to do this, I'm turning my old hob filter into a fuge an adding chaeto. The chaeto will absorb the phosphates ad help reduce nitrates.

Well, try lights out and see if it grow back. If it does, there is a nutrient problem somewhere.
