Taking the plunge. Going to take a shower and put the nicotine patch on. I've quit this way before for an extended period in the past. This is gonna be tough. On a side note I've been taking care of my little brother(16) got a call from his school the other day saying he missed a class. Being that
I'm a passive person I had a talk with him. I'll go ahead and warn him now that if I get another call like that (while trying to quit) I'm liable to rip his head off................:skull:

Good for you mission. Best decision any person can make.
I see the effects of smoking everyday, and every person states that they wish they had stopped smoking a long time ago.
    Grats, and karma to you!

Dude. Good job. Congratulations. The toughest thing I ever did was quit smoking. I wanted to throttle everyone in sight for three days. The bad cravings lasted about a week, although the worst of it was over in 72 hours.

A note on the patch. The adhesive is sensative to moisture. After you towel dry, you need to wait an hour before putting on the next one. Make this your routine. Place the patch on one hour after exiting the shower. Your skin isn't dry enough to accept the patch without waiting the 60 minutes IMO.

    Rock on dude. And Peace.......John.:)

    OK, This is easy folks.
I smoked 4 packs a day for 17 years and finally quit 5 years ago.

Ask yourself , why does everyone always go back to smoking ? They all go out to a bar and have a drink or two. Then they have a smoke and blammo, back on the sticks.

    Here is what I did.
When you quit smoking just start drinking like a fish. Works like a charmmmm

Now if I could just stop drinking, I would be all set.

Good job to you too Luna. I went cold turkey as well. I wanted to feel every bit of pain. That way, there was noooooooo chance of going back when I made it.

Ya know,I calculated once that a five pack a day smoker smoked one every eight minutes, assuming that s/he slept eight hours a day. I did that after Jackie Gleason died of lung cancer. He was a 5 pack a dayer. I could, at most, only suck down a pack and a half......I stuck to one pack a day.
