I'm in love with the Foxface. It's probably one of my favorite fish.

My LFS has it... and I tried to buy it but they almost wouldn't allow me to get it because it "nips" at corals, shrooms, etc.

This is what I have now:
    Standard Mushroom
    Red Mushroom Coral
    ZOAs
    Pacific Recordia - Yuma

If I feed him properly, what worry do I have? Or is it too dangerous?

There are fish we would all like to have in our tank, but cannot because of compatiblity and other issues.

WARNING:: All rabbitfishes have venomous fin spines. Stings can be painful...sometimes with serious side effects.

    Handle with care!!!

Maybe that one Fox face en-particular nips ? But as a whole I have them and have always kept them and its never been a issue with any of them I ever owned.. Is this something they are just telling you that they think they know or have they actualy seen it nipping at a coral and not some algae or food setting on it the coral that is.. Tey are like tangs .
I had a purple tang once that took a taste for clams :) But it was just that one..Only one I ever saw to do it

I think it's most hearsay. Right now I have some ZOAs and some shrooms. Nothing too special... I really want to try it. I mean... as long as I can keep my shrimp and stuff I'm good. I think I'll get one tomorrow....

This hobby is full of what I call reading repeaters that read some thing that is way out there extreme and all want to come running to post it to sound like they know what they are talking about and being to first to know it LOL. Hell its like that with corals to fish even to simple stand pipes and surge /flush buckets all want to sound important.. Its like that right here on this site a thread will set untouched for a day then a post will come on there and say what the problem or fish may be and Bammm then they are all over it telling you what to do and how its done.. Just a little information to get them going on Goggle.

But I have rabbits and fox faces and never had any issue with these or any of the ones I have kept over the last 35 to 40 yrs. I had one Rabbit to stick me I was trying to net him , Like posted it did hurt a tad like a wasp sting , But in the early 70's who knew I had lions fish to hit me i have morays to bit me I had a smasher to pop my finger .. Dogs bite , cats scratch ..The lion fish was the worse as i recall :) and the finger tip was Blue and broken for a few weeks . But The rabbit we have now is good sized and will be the first to eat from your fingers..As far as the corals there are a few Pictures of our tank around here and its loaded with corals ..Tell the LFS guru to have a coke and a smile and shut the F%^%$ up you :) Enjoy you foxface

Its nice to know there is atleast one LFS that doesnt sell something becuase of the potential threat unlike the ones will sell you a panther grouper and tell you its reef safe just to make a buck, etc etc.

The Foxface should do fine in a reef tank! Proper diet and feeding will also aid in your attempt at this beautiful fish and its possibility of snacking on your corals...
And YES they are venomous...so caution should be advised! Research the Foxface before making your decision...PLUS there is a regular Foxface as well as the highly praised and more expensive Majestic Foxface!!!!!maybe an option!

Man don't start feeding that crap it will eat regular flake food and will peck at algae in the tank .. You'll be posting I have green water also..It's totally not needed food variation is a human concept not an animal one.. fish like dog do not care about flavour or about what it looks like.
