I was wondering where to place a Flower Anemone. Should they be kept in the sand bed or put on a rock? I know they dont move around as much as other nems. I was wondering with more than one, should they be kept together in a group or spread out around the aquarium? I would like to get a few:cheesy:

Bumping this, as I have the same question. I introduced one to my nano about a week ago, and currently have it in the sand bed. I bought it attached to a small rock, so I can easily move it. This is my first anemone, so I can't really determine how "happy" it is. It has eaten mysis and plankton each time I fed it (about every other day).

Second question is ideally I would like it to be in my 55. My LFS advised it would not have enough light in the 55. I was planning on placing it in the rockwork, about halfway up. Lighting is 20 3W CREE LEDs (10 CW XP-G and 10 RB XP-E). I plan to modify the light to add an additional 20 or so LEDs (mix of TV, NW, Blue, Cyan, Deep Red etc), but this wouldn't be for a few months most likely.

    So, the two questions are:

Where are they most happy, sand or rockwork?
Would it do fine in my 55 under the current lighting described above?

    TIA!

What I read on the live aquaria is that it doesn't require a lot of light but needs to be fed. I kept one for years with poor water quality and minimal lighting...they are pretty hardy little buggers :)

That is basically what I have been reading as well. I do like that my LFS actually tries to tell you weather your tank is appropriate for what you want to buy or not. But I think he was not aware of the actual lighting requirement for a Rock Flower vs. your usually BTA, etc.

Any other thoughts regarding placement and if lighting is sufficient? (not that I don't trust you OFK, I just like multiple opinions :))

    :shame:

You caught me!! My gut is the lighting should be sufficient along with feedings. But still not sure on placement either way.
