    Great advice!
I actually used my hand... and put the food in front of the goby... it went to town on the food! It ate like crazy. I was quite pleased... although it still doesn't swim around and remains in one spot. I'm hoping it's still building up energy.

24 hours and counting... still NO SIGN of the Wrasse! It's bizarre... and let me tell you if it buried itself under the sand... it's in an amazing hiding spot. Any chance this thing will resurface again? I know for a fact it didn't escape the tank... there's a canopy for goodness sake... it would have had to be the leap of a lifetime!

Water quality holding the same... no changes...
but fish look happy (2 clowns and yellow tang)

No signs of ich on any of the fish... I'm actually hoping it was misdiagnosed.

Tomorrow I am picking up the red sea wave maker to control the four mj1200 powerheads in the tank... looking forward to seeing what it does for the fish.

BTW... the tang eats and eats.... it tried stealing from the goby when I hand fed it... what's up with that??

Good to hear the 3 are still alive. Usually the wrasse will only hide when it's first put into the tank, but isince it was out right away cleaning the other fish, there's no reason it would hide - other than the yellow tang started picking on him... But he'll come back out when he's ready.

I have never read a thread this long in it's entirety before. I am in total disbelief about what has happened. I would be posting that LFS name and location so that others can stay away from it. He doesn't deserve to have ANY more business.

The Economy? That is NO excuse for making any animal(s) life utter misery.
There is such a thing as "doing what is right!".

I am very impressed by how the members of this board rallied to help. I bet the owner of that LFS wasn't available at 3:00AM to answer your questions or come salvage the animals. Listen to the guys here, they know what they are talking about.

LOL, 2/3 am in the morning and me and Ryan were "bug eyed" ( least i was )
I couldint leave him though, said his wife was all upset and him, LOL , he was like .. OMG, OMG .

I'm very happy to have helped a little with Ryan's perplexing problems late in the night.

On a side note I couldint leave him , I looked at this way >
Ryan not ever having ever owned or kept fish fresh or salt dove in with both feet and laid his hard earned money down ( 2,000+ clams ).
LOL, for the life of me' i was sitting here having a ciggy' watching adult swim and "robot chicken" was on...lol.
I couldint leave him, But i garenteeeee ! he knows more now in the last few days than he did when he pulled is money out of the wallet.

I hope he has great success and has every thing he'd hoped for in this reef set up.

Go's to show ya all ya gotta have is the desire and willing to go the extra mile to get it all figured out.

    Keep reading Ryan !

    Thanks Wildreef...
that night... I mean morning ... was one I won't soon forget!!!!

I have been reading up on a hospital tank... for quarantine as well.
Do you guys think an all-in-one is the way to go?
My concerns are filling it up as needed... or keeping it running?
Which is smarter? I have the room in my bedroom to keep it running...

I found this tank online... is it the way to go for cost and features?

    Thanks,

I really don't see why it wouldn't. Seems pretty good to me. =)

Keeping a QT running is alright. That way it's ready to go if you need it quickly.

By the way, your goby won't actually swim. They literally sit around like that almost all day except when they wiggle over to another spot to, you guessed it, sit around again. When you feed him, target feed him at his burrow like you've been doing. Your LFS did another doozy giving him to you this sson. They shouldn't go into a tank for at least 6 months, sometimes longer since they feed on little organisms in the sand. They often starve to death if added to soon, so just keep up the feeding so that you know he is eating.

    Return of the Wrasse!!!!

    Hey gang--

After more than 48 hours MIA...
My cleaner wrasse has emerged from hiding! I was shocked to say the least. Thought the LFS brought him over to clean the ich then die from high nitrates in the tank. However, just like the tang and 2 clown fish... it's spirited and roaming around... guess it has a really good hiding spot. I've enclosed a pic or two of the little guy with the gang

I've also taken some pics of some mysterious growth on the live rock... one looks like a dime sized white blob...

The other looks like mold... it's really weird... can anyone identify and tell me if I should be worried?

Also... now that the ich is gone from the fish or perhaps it was misdiagnosed to begin with... what will the cleaner wrasse eat? It doesn't seem to take well to flake food... any suggestion!!

BTW... the goby still sits at the bottom... moving ever so slightly when I hand feed it... hope it turns around...

Also, I've decided water changes are useless for lowering the 80ppm nitrate levels... guess I'm going to have to let this thing lower on its on... one things for sure... fish can definitely thrive at those levels...

Look forward to some good replies ...
    Ryan

Pic number 2 appears to me to be some sort of decaying coral from the LR, can you get a closer pic ?

I would suggest to you that you continue with your water testing and skimming and such .
AND NO lighting at this time , that rock appears to me that some of that LR is pretty fresh and thats why your readings of nitrates etc. are up right now. ( that and plopping all those fish in at one time to )

With all the fish in there right now , I would suspect it will take a bit longer
to get the tank to end it's cyle and gets those high reading to reduce them selves.

List your reading here in this post and date them OR begin a Tank "journal"
in the fourms listing under ( Fish tanks )

It will be a good way to see your progress and keep up with it.

I for one would like to know ( curiosity ) what your water parameters are at.

    Amonia, nitrates,nitrites,phosphates,
