    Hey everybody,

So recently i got a really healthy and beautiful leather coral, that acclimated well and opened up after the first day. But yesterday and today it has not opened up. I have no idea why. It usually gets much longer fingers, colored and polyps. But now its all darkened up and closed. I'm not sure if its because that i fed it some MarineSnow, and then it closes up cause it got lots of nutrients or it is because of some lemon juice that i had to kill a small aiptasia with, that was pretty close to the coral. But i didnt do a big injection of lemon juice, it was just a tiny bit, but some did touch the tip of a finger. Please i need some help, will it recover?!

soft corals are pretty forgiving in general. sounds to me like its simply acclimating to your system if its only been in there for 3 or 4 days. i dont believe lemon juice is the culprit or the feeding (though i would not feed mine).

what are your water parameters and live stock?

It will be fine. It sounds like its just shedding, just make sure it has good flow on it.Also keep in mind it can take up to a Month for it to open up again.

My leathers go through that all the time. All is great then it closes up for a day or two. Make sure it is in an area with good flow and decent light and it should be fine.

The only live stock i have in this tank is my Clarkii clown :) But he is not nipping at it, hes just hanging around the anemone and sometimes swims up to look if the coast is clear :) Havent seen him nip it. Havent got any coral eating pests or parasites either. So everything is good, its probably just shedding :)

Whenever my leather corals shed, I increase the flow slightly to help blow they old leather tissue away. It seems to speed up the process and they open up sooner.
