While feeding my scoly tonight, I also fed my acros with reef roids. I noticed after feeding all of them were covered in stringy stuff that looked like the gunk that vermetid snails release. However, it clearly wasn't from vermetids and it wasn't the messentery filaments. Do acros secrete mucus during feeding? Is this a response to help capture food?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Those are Mesenterial filaments. Mesenterial filaments serve two purpose, one as a defensive mechanism and another as digestive. You often see them about 10-20 minutes after feeding the tank or cleaning the glass. Try feeding your acros, reef snow, sponge power, Rod's Foods, reef roids. Feed sparingly as to not promote the development of cyano or algae.

When I do a water change, all of my acros are out of the water for a good hour once a week. After the change, they secret a lot of mucus. My water typ turns cloudy for a little bit.

I have never fed my acros, or any coral for that matter.
