Thanks man. Been rocking 2 primes since the setup. Really like them. That pic was taken just before peak lighting for the day.

Wow, insanely bright. I think I will finally order that 26 Hydra. Your tank is going to look wicked once you start stocking!

Cycle, cycle, Cycle........got a major diatom outbreak yay for a nasty looking tank. Lol jk. well its almost done with the cycle showing no traces of ammonia. Nitirites are vanishing. Nitrates are skyrocketing. Pretty sure the samd i added to the sump really jump started the cycle as well as the little chunk of live rock i stuck in the sumo as well. Heres a lil pic of that nasty diatom look every just loves. 20160627_031428.jpg

Good lord the diatoms. Ill update a pic later but ive never had one out break this bad. Even my wife has something to say about the eye sore this go around. Her exact words "its never looked this bad before, what did you do?"...all i could do was laugh. I know they go away after awhile but since they are so abundant and my params are good, i figured a few snails wont hurt. Whats the best ones to go after these guys until some other algaes start to grow.

did you test silicates? thats what diatoms munch on....... Its always delicate to get an animal that specifically eats one type of alge...mainly beacuse once that algae gone said animal will most likely perish.....also i dont know what critter will eat diatoms.....patience is key

I have the patience to wait it out no worries about that. Just wait until you see this. Atleast i hope its diatoms if not its got one hell of a foot hold now i may be doomed from the start lol. They will consume whats there quickly i assume at the pace they are growing so not to worried about it. Wife is more concerned with it. Lol. Never happened before. I attribute the not so major boom like this due to the fact that i used all live rock before and now it the same rock as before just dead with abunch of die off and some live sand in the sump. Maybe she will send me a pic i can upload since im at work now.

Ok the bloom is dying off. Its still not the prettiest tank yet but looking a lot better. I did add a 2 ceriths and 3 nassarius to combat it. They seem to really enjoy themselves as i can see the white trails on the rock work where they have been. Not sure which one of them it is but somebody has been layimg some eggs i assume. I know its not pods as they havent moved and i can see them kinda glued to the glass. I havent cleaned my glas as i kinda wanna see them hatch. Just did a 5 g water chamge to refresh the water in there.

Getting some coraline spots appearing on rocks. Tiny but they are coming up. Glad i seeded the tank when i got the snails. Took some empty shells from the lfs tanks and scraped of the coraline, crushed it into a small cup of tank water and dumped it in front of the power heads.

Updated pic of the empty tank looking dirty and what o believe to be snail eggs. Let me know if im wrong. 1467645297373713215246.jpg 20160704_095715.jpg 20160704_095733.jpg
