ive been having some interesting algae show up in different locations for my setup. In one overflow, virtually none, in my other overflow green hair algae, in my sump I have red and green clue cyano and in my dt very limited if any at all.

Look at Lyngbya and see if it resembles what you're seeing. It's hard for me to tell against a blue back round and against the chaeto. Do not just look at one image or thread, it's hard to find info but it can be found.

Interesting. I believe you're on to something. I'll read more.

I just don't understand how such different varieties of algae grow in different areas. It also seems to switch locations from time to time. As if it has some sort of cycle.

I would consider removing some of the chaeto. It looks to be decaying a little from loss of flow/light?.It should kill off the other algaes. I always liked to constantly prune a little at a time so it continually grew at a faster rate.It actually likes being pruned. In the ocean animals would be doing it.:)

I did read this. It came up in a Google search. This confirms what I have. Next step is how to get rid of it.

Will do. I've never trimmed back my chaeto, but I will now.
