    Hey everyone,

I have attached a piece of driftwood to a glass tile using aquarium silicone. How long should this cure before placing in the tank? I've read that 24 hours is good but also have read that 48 hours is good but thought that may be more appropriate if I was sealing glass sides.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

I usually find silicone is dry enough at 24. But can't be sure that all of the fumes won't be out by then. Is suggest 48 if you are in no hurry.

I am having trouble finding aquarium silicone. Where did you buy it? Lowes tried to sell me boat silicone. I informed them that was not for aquarium use.

If you get the RTV 100 series of silicone in caulking tubes- it will bond, hold and not poison the fish.

Any pet store should have it. Comes in a small tube, or caulking tube.

24-48 hrs should be fine. I'd be interested to know a little more about the drift wood you are using and what kind of tank its going in.
