So first thing is first. my params for my water are normal. haven't done anything different except add my anthias but I've been keeping up with water changes to make up for the add feedings. now I started to notice my blue chalice has been having problems and now it's with another. the second one has never had any problems up till recently and its worrying me. now what really threw me off was my new acan I've had for a week just ended up woth no flesh in a matter of one night. it's nt near anything except a chalice but they're spaced apart pretty far. could it be the peppermint shrimp I have in my tank?

Also no other corals are having problems except these 3 (well 2 now). you'd figure if it was water relates the pectinas being so sensitive would be the first to go and theyre both growing like monsters

It's tough to figure out the problems with corals. I have plenty of the same species of coral but one will die off while the others thrive, nature of the reef tank. Flow, alkalinity, lighting, all have impact on the corals health but you said all is normal so I won't question that. I got rid of my peppermint shrimp when I saw one tearing at my acan. It could've been going after food but the acan did perish. Also, stores have sold camel shrimp thinking that they are peppermint shrimp, not sure if they are more destructive. My logic is this, if a shrimp will eat an anemone, what's to stop it from eating another fleshy invertebrate.

True. I was reading on a couple of other forums where people say the peps will tear into some corals mostly acans. I had a major apatasia problem and i have maybe 5 left. I'm hoping they get to them before they start on my pectinas if this is the case.

I would be more concerned with fleshy corals than the pectina. Good luck man

I had an acan frag. It did well, looked awesome for a few weeks then I got peppermints. One day I noticed one side of my acan all torn apart, then noticed a few days later the shrimp picking at it.

I removed the shrimp but the damage was so bad the acan didn't make it.

well the pectinia is a lps and nothing but flesh. it's just highly sensitive for an lps.

I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'll probably go trapping in my tank tonight if that's the case

I've never had trouble with any chalices. By fleshy I mean acans, euphyllia, ect.

Been stalking the tank for the past couple of days and even set up a gopro with a 64 gb stick. Well after reviewing the footage t was the peppermint shrimp. I got a new galaxia and it set it up front to acclimate to my lights and wanted to see if the shrimp or something would attack it. Well you can imagine the face I made when I saw the Lil you know what make his way down to coral town and feast on my new white tip galaxia.

I would be sure not to put that Galaxea near other corals as it will kill them.
