Agreed. What a lot of people don't realize is that clams can and do take a very long time to die. 3 months is not a long enough amount of time to make a determination that the clam is doing well under inadequate lighting especially if the clam is under 3".

YUP, I agree as well.
It would be foolish to abandon everyones advise and feel you could do what no one else could do. Like a lot of inverts it could take up to a year to die, and during that time the clam might not exhibit any signs of illness

By the time you notice that the clam is doing "bad", it will most likely be too late to save it. :(

Bruce, In no way am I disrespecting anyone on this board "the quote was "don't believe everything not anything that anyone tells you!" I have learned a lot from this site and many thing said to me contradict with other board an what members here have said. I am simply stating that a person should not listen to what everyone else has to say and only go by that. You have to research, learn then do what you think is right.

Birdlady, i agree that testing is necessary, however over testing can drive a man/woman crazy in thinking that their tank is not doing good just because of a level and what not.

Jason, I try to set him upright and my goby just knocks him right over Agna. I am waiting for my clam to just take a shot at my goby one day.

One to grow on: Insufficient light will cause dull brown or bleached coloration. None in which can be seen on my Clam. What an awesome piece of nature he is.

i have 8 clams, 2 squamosas, 4 croceas, a teardrop maxima, and 1 derasa, they are all on the floor of my 125 and all are under 6 vho flour. (please don't kill me i just don't like the way mh look in my tank) all have been there for at least 1 year(croceas) and 1 of the squamosas has been there for about 5 years. the biggest improvement happened when i added a calc reactor.

Dear All,

I am a sincere clam enthusiast with no clams. I mean I like clams but I am not getting one in India. Is it possible for any of you to get a clam for me. I will pay in advance to you so that there is no hassle.
Also I would like to know how the clam can be reached to my place. Can it take the journey. Please also make sure that there are legal bills & papers along with the animal.

Anybody helping me is welcome.

Hear from ypou soon

Liverock,
Sorry to hear you can not get clams in India. It would be very difficult for an individual to send you a clam. It would be very expensive and the paper work would be too great. There are a lot of clams coming out of Vietnam and Bali, I'm wondering if looking for a supply there maybe a better route.

Sorry
Jason

Hi Jason,

You know what, just by answering my querry you have proved that the marine comunity is a great cohesive community.
I really thank you for that.
Jason now i would need your help.
Vietnam would be closer to India, but do you know any vendors there.
OR do i get some addresses on the net.
Well I will definitely search for it BUT a request to you also.
Since you have a thriving marine hobby there and supposedly lots of LFS, can you please inquire about some dealers in Vietnam to your LFS??

Looking for a great friendship with you.

Thanks lot

Squamosa, derasa, and Gigas are the most hardy, then comes the Maximas then the Crocea. You have strong enough lighting for all. Some clams like to be set up on live rock while others prefer sandy beds.
