I would love to hear an update on this!

I have a small experiment I'm doing on an 11g reef, dosing Vitamin C powder as my carbohydrate source, and NO SKIMMER which defies common logic. However, I have found that it does have a limited use. I do NOT recommend people try this with vodka though unless they are experienced already at dosing while using a skimmer--- vodka seems to promote bacterial blooms more suddenly/drastically than Vitamin C.

You can see here where I've done some tracking of this over the past 6 months or so.

Hi Mr. Bill tanks still sitting idle at present, with algae growing , but no testing in progress, I have been fragging my colt and leather corals from my 4ft and introducing them to the test tanks, along with the Torch corals
so this time they will be more representitive of set up aquariums

    Thank you Redfish
I have been following your thread, because I have also been playing with vit C (bottled liquid branded variety) in my softy tank, I do run a skimmer
my softies have been steadily outgrowing their enviroment

my experience with Vodka reflects what you say above, I switched to Vinegar on my SPS set up , and definitely noticed conditions improved

No updates since January. I'd say life took priority over this experiment. You can't really test each and every scenario. We had good results nonetheless and I applaud Steve for the hard work he put on this as well as each of the people that participated and suggested ideas and variables to increase the accuracy of the results. Way to go guys!
