Looking to get a clam for my 30g cube. Running a Kessil as my main light and current USA orbit marine as supplement/moonlight. Kessil is aprox 18" above sand bed, current aprox 15". Would like to keep clam on sand bed. More then likely a maxima. Is this lighting adequate?

I know of a guy who has a clam thriving under 2 kessil a150w ocean blues in his 75 gal.

I did. Seemed to do fine. I have a 40 breeder so about the same depth. It did fine for about 2 months. A nassarius got him. I currently have another about 4 inches from surface under kessil 150. Doing fine.

Are you sure the nassarius wasn't just cleaning up the dead clam? I've read where people blamed them for killing the clam but I've kept a few in my other tank in the sand bed with nassarius snails with no issues.

Yeah alot of whleks are sold as nasauriuis snails and whelks are predatory.

OP: I think it can do well.

I Found out there are over 500 species of nassarius. At least one (ilyanassa I think) is believed to be predatory is very common in stores. Vibex is believed to only eat carrion but they aren't entirely sure of that.
