Not sure how he looks today. When I turned the lights on before work he was still in his little cave where he goes at night. When im home later he should be out and I can let u know. I started using the garlic stuff yesterday so hopfully he shows signs of improvement today.

Yeah Im going to hold off on a cleaner wrasse they seem like a bad move to do at the time and no reason to add a possible second fish problem.

your water seems surprisingly green as well (unless its a background). could you post a pic of your full tank? and when did you do the last battery of test and what were the results?

Don't be surprised if he suddenly looks much better only to find him covered again in a few days. That is what happened to me and it is part of the life cycle of the Ich. After that, the Ich was in a constant state of renewal as they were all in various stages of the cycle.

Here is a good read to understand the parasite and ways to combat it if you choose to eliminate it from your tank.

Haha my waters clear the wall behind my tank is bright green so thats just the wall through the tank. Later tonight when im home from work ill do all new tests and give a full pic of the tank. I did tests last week and the only thing thats was off was nitrate. Ill do new tests to give an accurate reading on my tank.

I'm no expert as this is my first battle with it as well.

I have a WalMart storage tote (27 gallon about 2/3 full) and am going the hyposalinity route. According to that link, you can't rely on a biological filter in a hyposaline condition (or copper based for that matter), but I took a piece of PVC pipe (about 6" long) and zip tied a big piece of microfilter cloth for a canister filter to the bottom of it. I then have an air stone in the PVC so it's drawing water through the cloth, similar to an undergravel filter. Hopefully, I'll get some bio filtration going in that.

I didn't wait. Per the link, I filled the tote with tank water during a water change and then started dropping the salinity every day with RO/Di water. I'm down to about 1.015. One or two more changes and I'll be there.

My only battle now is getting the two remaining fish in my tank. The buggers are on to the fish trap. :) I'm trying to get them without tearing out all the rock work.

    Good luck!

How are your fish handling being placed right into the new qt tote ? I want to try that method but I feel with my work schedule something could go wrong with the levels such as ph.

4-6 weeks IMO. 4 if the fish appears to be 100% disease free from the day it was acclimated, and ate well right off the bat. 6 if it had to be treated for anything, or if it is a very finicky eater. During the 4 weeks you should be able to tell if it has any diseases. Due to the life cycle of Ich, it could be infected, but the fish could possibly not show any signs until 3 weeks in!

At least this is what I do. I have had a couple fish die in QT from Ich, but my DTs have remained disease free (from what I can tell).

There was no issue going directly into the QT as I started with tank water. However, I have been doing daily water changes and topping off with RO/DI to bring the salinity down. All seem healthy and are eating fine.

I agree with you on the work schedule, and I will have similar problems here. My hope is that I can get it dialed in and simple so that my wife and/or kids can help with it if I can't get to it. That part's still in question though. :-/

I would avoid the cleaner wrasse, as its something that could hinder the transition of the disease with fish... IE If it doesnt do well and dies in a crack it could hinder levels and make it more stressful.

Granted My Cleaner wrasse Is going on 3 years with me... You really need to know what is going on with them as stated in previous posts.
