The hardest part for me was the wait. I would look at this tank that was suppose to make me happy and proud but it was having the opposite effect. Friends would come over and I felt embarrassed and like a failure. The day that I noticed that it was clearing up was a feeling of great accomplishment. Now I take my time with everything I do to the tank and it awards me with happiness.

    Yes.
Dr. Tim's waste away worked for me the one time I experienced a bloom. It was gone in a few days and never returned.

hang in there! I'm sure that is frustrating not being able to enjoy the beauty of the tank.....it is still there! I can understand why you would worry about the fish but it seems they will be fine - I always try to increase surface agitation when concerned about fish health - Vinny's advise :)

Did you post to another thread about a newly cycled tank? How long has this been running? How big of tank?

Thank you all for the advice. Here is a pic it already looks so much better, sorry about all the bubbles from the power head I'm going to leave it taking in air for longer to make sure the bloom is gone.

You dont need them to blow bubbles just make ripples on the surface. You are gonna have a hard time with the level of bioload you are attempting.
I would certainly not add anything else to this tank. WC'S are a good tool. If you are relying on a canister filter for chemical filtration it must be maintained often. An hob filter would be a better choice for ease of maintenance and versatility.Of course a sump is preferred.

Thanks my sump is almost completed just waiting for the silicone to finish curing. It will add almost another 50 gal in total volume. I have been trying to catch the damsels to remove them for months now, crafty little buggers.
