We tried that with the back seem and the glue ran down and ruined my paint I didn't want to risk that on one of my display sides we actually got great seems doing it the way you see in the picture.

heres a question for ya, if you went through the trouble of making your own tank. then why didnt you go for an external c2c with 1/8" slots?

What do you mean by external? I think you mean cutting small slats in the back panel this would be very difficult with the tools we have i also then would have to glue the box to the back of the tank witch would mean I would see all the plumbing in the rear box as well as I'm using 3/8" acrylic to its max recommended height and would not want to weaken it. Also having the the 2 boxes 1 small inside and the larger one outside allows us to make changes. down the road I can always build a different box.

if the back panel was black acrylic you wouldnt have the issues you think you might have. ive built many tanks the way im talkin. to each their own.

I got a very cheap price on my acrylic as it was left overs and was all clear 3/8 If it was black and 1/2 or greater I would have considered it for sure.

We also have to cut holes for the bulkheads and glue it to the back of the inside overflow box. The last pics posted the box was not complete
