Sorry, I posted before reading these last few responses.

I keep thinking though, are you sure no hydrogen sulfide was released?

He posted in another thread that it did not make it :( Not sure about the tank, though.

Did he ever find out what was causing all of the problems?

The LFS did a gill scrape and said there was vibrio present. I feel it was just stress.
Few days before the "die off"
day 1. PH fell off, stirred up sand all night.
day 2. Introduced new salt mix.
    day 3. Added 2 1050 koralias.
    day 4. die off.

So i am thinking it was a ton of stress. Plus maybe a bacterial infection that may have helped.

The tank is doing fine now, i added stress coat. so my skimmer is not really work that great. had to build a stand to raise it like 6in and plug the air intake line other wise even on lowest setting it was just bubbling over and filling up with water in about a minute. getting new RO filters in the mail soon so going to do some more water changes this week.

sorry to hear about all the mess man... somehow i missed the sand storm happening there, if i'd have caught that then i would have been leaning in that direction this whole time. Sand can do some nasty things when it gets stirred up...

I'm really happy for you that you got things under control! :) I cannot think of one person who hasn't had something bad happen----it's terribly upsetting so don't feel you're alone.

Stress in the tank can definitely affect the animals and I think it may have been possible stray voltage and hydrogen sulfide that caused your fish to get sick. But, you have things under control so yayyyy!

My last thought for all of us: I knew of a guy who went on vacation with his wife. His tank was fully automated so all he needed was his friend to come over and empty the collection cup on the skimmer. A week into this man's vacation his friend called, in a panic and asking what he should do. Get this: the bottom of his 90g. cracked, shattered, and simply fell out. When the friend had gone over to empty the collection cup he found dead fish, dead corals, dead rock, dead inverts, shattered glass, and 90 gallons of water on their living room floor. OMG OMG OMG. The guy and his wife had to replace the carpet and the subfloor. Including his tank and stand, he said he lost well over $3000.00, and that didn't include how much he had to pay for the carpet and subfloor. I would have started crying.
