$100 DIY Cree LED XR-E - Actinic Supplement 48" Light Strip

I added 12 led over 48" using a 48" ruler(flat bar)..and have had no probs..but I to have fans in the canopy for the halides,which prob helps..

what is better the headsink or lam alum?

 

This will depend on how many leds you will use and how spaced they will be..EX, 8 leds over 48" shouldn't produce more heat then the alum bar can absorb and disapate(sp?)..the more leds and closer together equals more heat..wich equals bigger heat sink allowing for better cooling all with the help of fans also..
A cool led is a happy long living led..

Have been looking into LED for some time. Even a cost of $200.00 is far better than cost of continual replacement of T5HO bulbs every six months or so at a cost of (for me) of $27.00 bucks each. I run 2. Mean Well has a dimmable driver, about 34 bucks. Have looked into that. Just need DC power supply, small electronic config to get 10 volts and a potentiometer. Did I say DIMMABLE?
