A professor of fisheries and aquaculture from the University of Rhode Island and a team of graduate students have developed transgenic fish - trout in particular - that have 'enhanced' muscle mass. They "spent 500 hours injecting 20,000 rainbow trout eggs with various DNA types designed to inhibit myostatin. Of the eggs that hatched, 300 carried the gene that led to increased muscle growth. After two years, most exhibited a “six-pack ab” effect, even though fish lack standard abdominal muscles. They also have increased musculature throughout, including a prominent dorsal hump that made them look like they had muscular shoulders."

I am a DIY guy. If it involves giant drill-bits, jig-saws and toxic chemicals - count me in. The battery box refugium was a great DIY project I had fun with yesterday. My Neo Nano aquarium is about 34 gallons and I wanted to build a refugium that was proportional and would not take up existing sump space. Another requirement was that the refugium was designed in a way that did not light up the whole living room at night. So with this in mind, I began the DIY version of the pub crawl and starting hitting the local hardware stores. When I stumbled on the Attwood Battery Guard Box, the fun began.

I was Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I came to Germany in 1988 as a GI.
I left the Military (after Desert Storm and 2 further peace keeping tours) and returned to Germany in 1995.
I have always had an Aquarium. In 2000 I got the urge to try salt water.




After Several Moves, and a Bad Divorce. I am remarried and we have bought a House in the Heidelberg, Germany region.
