The goal of this site is to provide helpful information to the beginner and veteran hobbyist alike and hopefully save a few fish and coral along the way.

ATB keeps polishing their econo-line of skimmers. The ATB 840 and 1050 now come with seamless molded cone bodies, highly polished edges, skimmate drain valve, removable base plate, and option of the large or small pinwheel.
AquaIllumination will soon be bringing the first LiFi by Luxim based solid-state plasma lighting system.
'The outlook of this technology is promising, however at this time pricing, features and availability are unknown due to the products early stage of development. From our initial testing we have found this single emitter appears to produce equivalent output as metal halide systems with the longevity of LED based systems. The light easily lends its self to a wide color spectrum range and intensity control.'
This just in... Coral Vue is in the final stages of development on a new Lumen Bright fixture with that has dual LB mini pendants, 4 HO T5s and moonlights. The fixtures will come with separate power cords for the halides, T5s and LEDs. The fixture will house the T5 ballast but the MH ballast will be sold separately from the fixture so that users can use their ballast of choice. You can gain access to the fixture to change bulb positioning with in the LB reflector and any servicing that may be required to the fixtures components. Note the T5s are mounted at angles to direct the light within the aquarium due to the suggest hanging heights of Lumen Bright reflectors.
The fixtures are in the final stages of development but are not the final product.
Another 3reef exclusive sneak peak - some beta test pics from overseas of the upcoming EcoBright LED light fixture by Royal Aquarium! They are currently testing 1 watt LEDs on the 2' fixture. We were told the 1 watt LED lamps with produce close to 80% of the brightness of the 3 watt LEDs but with more than 60% less heat! Stay tuned for more info...
