Default Tests that Salifert doesnt have

Okay so i've compiled that Salifert has

Ammonia
Boron
Calcium
Copper
Iodine
KH/Alkalinity
Magnesium
Nitrate
Nitrite
Dissolved O2
Phosphate
pH
Stronium

Is "organics" dissolved O2? It was listed on one site, but no others.

Are any of these not necessary? $20 a pop adds up for a beginner

What about iodide & "limnology" ?

I think they carry silicates as well!
The ones you DEFINITELY need are:
Ammonia
Nitrites
Nitrates
Calcium
Phosphates
Iodine, if you are dosing iodine
PH
and alkalinity
IMO
They make a good testing product, however their are numerous other testing companies that are somewhat cheaper!

Saliferts test are accurate and easy to do. Those color code charts need to be thrown in the trash.

Skip the boron! not a significant amount and the amount in your salt mix is enough, besides you don't dose boron I don't think...never seen boron additive!

I know...i tried to use a nitrate guess by the colors chart game that my g/f had. Worst idea ever...IMO the multi test strips are better than that.

Is this a new tank ? also depending on how you choose to cycle it also makes a difference on what test you need Myself I have never wasted money on a Ammonia or nitrite kit and Nitrates is just the end of the line and since I start my nitrate coil when I start the cycle it all comes together at the correct time so I seldom use NO3 kits I use a DKH and Ca. And the Magnesium and Carbonate % Boron from Seachem..Boron is used in all commercial buffers aka Laundry Booster.. Borate is a very important part of a buffer NSW has a alkalinity of 2.5 Mg/l c and of that 0.1% is from Borate And since we keep our reefs at much higher levels then NSW we need to boost this also I run mine at a Carbonate of 5.50 or 15 DKH so I boost my borate to the higher levels also ..the sea mixes we use in salt will not achieve this as will not most commercial buffers either I use the old 20 mule team laundry booster and mix my own carbonate buffering agent for like 5.00 a a few pounds rather then 10.00 for a hand full (:

Oh I'd say you have to have these tests Alk Ca and Mag and the PO4 and good R/O DI for makeup water
