Default A Tds Meter Question

I just recieved my new TDS meter and was wondering what is an acceptable reading to have from R/O water. I tested my R/O and it came out 100pm. I tested my tap water and it came out 149ppm. So whats acceptable?

Seems to me a little high to me. Mine goes in about 290 and comes out 0. Once it gets near 10 I have been changing DI then when it comes up again (about 1 yr.) I change all the filters. I have one of those inline TDS meters.

My tapwater is about 350 and my ro/di system is a couple of years old and it comes out around 3-4 ppm.

Hey Luna, I have a TDS meter....ok, as far as I know and have experienced, RO only water should stay in the 20s or below depending on your water source...RODI on the other had has to be 000, a reading of 001 or 002 from a RODI is still ok, but it's a sign that the resin is almost gone.

Another point...when did you "flush" your RO membrane last? You must flush it at least once a month for at least 10-15 mins.

i really need a TDS meter which one are you guys using? my RO/Di come out to be around 9-15 ppm, dont know thats the right amount or not, but from what you guys said it might seem to be high, but still soft for the fish, i might swap out the DI resin

_________

55g AGA 55lb LR, 55lb sand, CPR skimmer, magnum 350, koralia 1.
in progress:

9-15 is good bro. RODI is best however. You don't have to swap to DI, just add a clear DI housing with some resin in it...here, I just bought some more resin for meself at this website: Bulk DI Resin the one at the top of the list is a kick ass price...as for the DI housing, here's what you'd need:
DI Resin scroll down to CLEAR 10" INLINE DI HOUSING, and here's the instructions to give you an idea of where you can place the DI housing if you already have a RO unit: 5 AND 6 STAGE RO-DI CHECK VALVE

I'm using this TDS meter: HM Digital TDS-3 Meter w/Case, TDS3/Temp/Salt /Tester - eBay (item 370028127433 end time Mar-10-08 18:51:57 PDT) great seller and fast shipping.
