R/O filter dead?

HI,

I just did a water check on my R/O DI filter. The phosphates coming out of it are 0.1. Shouldn't it be down around .002 or less or is that unrealistic for filtered muni water? It seems high for filtered water. I'd guess that I've run about 3,000 gal through the filter. Time for a new membrane? Oh, I have a 110 gal day unit. I think others have mentioned that the 110 units have a higher pass through. Maybe I should shift to a 75 gal day membrane?

Opinions?

Do you have a tds meter? If not, does your lfs have one?

Nope. That is too technical and easy. It's also more than the cost of the replacement membrane.

What Phosphate test kit are you using?

What is the tolerance of the kit

SeaChem. It's a 2 reagent kit. I've heard many of the Phosphate kits are very unreliable and tend to over state phosphate levels. It just occured to me that I have a gallon of distilled water I use for my Calcium tintrate kit. I'll test that tonight to see what I get as a baseline.
