| the elegance has been inflating and deflating over the last few days, I think its fine but I am monitoring it closely.
As for Ca, Some he suggest I add a 1/3 to 1.4 cup of it? Don't you think that is too much at one time or should I dose that much over a day?
Tested again last night
Mg = 1300
Alk 3.5 or 10 Dkh
PH 8.3
Salinity 1.023
Ca = 300 _________ |

Ca = 300 | I would worry about Mag first, get the mag up to 1400-1450, then start with the cal. The key is the Mag. Looks good thou, starting to come up. | So the Mg needs to be 1400 - 1450? I had it at 1300 then I was working on the Ca, I added a 1/4 of kent marine turbo calcium by dosing it overnight, barely made a dent, the Ca right now is 360, the Mg is 1240 and the Alk is 3.5
I added another 1/3 cup to a gallon of water and am dripping it in slowly, should take a few hours.
Should I add more Mg? |

Should I add more Mg? | Hey there, The key to bring your Cal and Alk up is Mag. If your dosing Mag and Alk and Cal at the same time, its not going to happen, your just chasing your tail. Your Alk is fine at 3.5, so stop dosing for that, for now. Stop dosing Cal. I would concentrate on Mag, when your Mag is between 1380 and 1480, then stop dosing Mag, wait for one day and start dosing Cal. Always keep an eye on your parameters. This is the part that becomes a P.I.T.A. b/c every time you dose, you have to test for what your dosing. I just tested my water and my Mag is 1400, my Cal is 480 and Dkh/Alk is 13.8/4.91. Luna |

| Thanks
I am not putting anything in for Alk just Mg and Ca
I will add more Mg tonight to get it up higher then test.
BTW, this is what I thought I was doing, the Mg was over 1300 so I waited a day tested Ca and then dosed, I thought it would help and it did a little, went from 300 to 360, I will test mg and ca again tonight.
Secondly, I do not know if my long tentatcle anenome stung the crap out of my toadstool or it it the change in paramters but it does not look good at all, it looks like a dying plant, slumped over, use be stand upright and have all polyps extended. |

I thought the target Mg was 1250-1350 with 1280 being optimal???
I try to run my tanks around Ca400, dkh 10, mg 1300... _________ Got Questions? Need Answers? "Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it." Andre Gide |

nsw: Mg1280, Ca 420, dKH 7, Sr 8
i keep mine: Mg 1500, Ca 480, dKH 20, Sr 40
and i wouldnt be able to if i had a lower Mg, like luna stated Mg is the key
tightlipped:
another thing that would help would be to bring the salinity to 1.026

I try to run my tanks around Ca400, dkh 10, mg 1300... | My results are from not adding anything(additives) only Kalk. I also havent changed my water for about 2 months now. As RG stated nsw is around those numbers and that is where I "usually" have mine at, but since dosing kalk, everything has gone up a little. |

| What do you mean by Kalk?
So I should aim for about 1400 in Mg
I did read though that the salinity should be 1.025 for a full blown reef not 1.023, I keep mine at 23 should I up it? |

How do you dose the Kalk? I have been using a 1 gallong milk bottle with a tube in it and a 1/4" hose and air valve on the end, I adjust it to control the drip. |
