Kent's calls it Toxic Metal Sponge And sea chem calls their metal polymer Couperin I think I'm sure Amerigo or someone here will recall its name ? I just always used the Kent's myself ..But both brands do the same thing. But water out of a city main can contain many metals Like in the older cities along th East coat the mains in the city streets are many times pure lead. But also in the house lines P.H can cause lead in the solder and other metals including Copper to dissolve into the water. Since the FDA made us stop using lead bearing solder its more tin and black tin now days.. This is what a water filter is so important these products listed above will just help to remove them if you have any now in the rocks water and sand. The ROWPAS is a great poduct but its best used in a fludized reactor if it just lays in the bag it will harden like a steel plate if its not kept moving . in a Bag use a Pohosguard or a treated sponge tyow deal. Or Sea Chems Phosguard beads.

I would go with a phosphate reactor. It allows you to hook it up to a powerhead and hang it on the back of your aquarium and also place other filter media in it such as carbon and phosphate remover.
I wouldn't be too concerned about phosphates though as they are not as important as maintaining a stable and ideal water parameter scenario...Ie. alkalinity, temperature, salinity, pH, ammonia and nitrites.

That would be ideal for me if i had the space, but maybe i will get one in the future at the moment for maybe the first year i'm gonna concentrate on just fish, so could anything else be recommended besides the reactor, lol only just got me head round a skimmer and how it works.?

The sponge will do you fine Iron Oxide does not mix well with anything else in a reactor If you put carbon in it then the harder carbon will beat it to a pulp and you will have rust looking stuff everywhere . Phos-Zorb works well and cone in a pouch so you can lay it right up on your filter pads for maximum flow Its made my Aquarium Pharmaceuticals
