| PH, how can I get it up? My lights are about to turn off and my ph reading is 7.97. I beleive it should be 8.3. how can I raise the ph without a ph buffer? I have a ph buffer but it also raises my alk and my alk is high already. any suggestions would be great at this point. thank you _________ 9YR OLD 90G/55g custom sump/refug Mag18 Aquac 180skimmer 692w MH AC jr,yel&kole tang, midas&convict blenny,B&G chromies,Blk/yel fin chromie blackcap, nemo, neon goby,6line; Blastomussa Merleti,Acan ,BUBBLE,Torch,LTA, Acropora(2) Moon, assort zoas, yel& G star polyps, P&B ricordia, montiporas, cup&candy corals, xenias,B/G mush, flower ane(2), cherry red mussa, dusters, cleaning crew.. |

If you need to increase the carbonate or DKH level then a good reef buffer is all you need to add . But if it is simply a increase of CO'2 then you can just get some Arm and Hammer washing soda at the grocery store and add 2 Tbls per 100 gallons of tank water to a glass of R/O water and stir it and pour into the tank this will increase the P.H and not mess with the carbonate level. I'd look to the low DKH levels first unless you are using glass tops on this tank.. _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

| Water change with Kalkwasser as kalk has a pH reading of around 12! Their is a pH buffer that has no effect on alkalinity!!!! | | 3reef Moderator | A lot of PH problem can stem from improper gas exchange and thought if you had a glass top that could have attributed to the reason (But no).
Does you PH monitor agree with your Test Kit? Have you calibrated your PM monitor?

| Dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide in the pelagic areas of your tank will add to your pH reading as will excess food just to mention a few components of pH fluxuating up or down! |
