| New TDS meter Hey ya'll,
I just got in a very simple TDS meter and I checked my ro/di and it's 33. I then checked my tap water and it's 77. The ro/di was installed NEW on May 24th of this year. Is this thing working correctly? This may be where I'm getting all the algae from...... |

| That doesn't sound right. My tap water is about 170 and my ro/di output water is about 4 ppm. I think there is a problem somewhere.....

| That's definitely not right. It sounds like the TDS meter might be off. Did it come pre-calibrated?
Do you have any nitrates or phosphates in your water? |

| I have the Reef keeper system from Air Water & Ice, they included a TDS meter. I have made several measurements of ; bottled water(around 120), My fridge water with its filter(around 250), and my tap(450), and my RO/DI water(0). I have not measured the nitrates or phosphates of my tap water. My filter yes, nill. I have taken to the LFS to see if it is correct also and they agree... |

| I'm going to try my fridge water too. I just changed the filter a few weeks ago. It did come factory calibrated, or so it says it did. I emailed the guy where I bought both from to see if I hooked it up right or if there is a problem. Haven't heard back from him yet.....Will let you all know the outcome.
Guru...I must have phosphates. I've been fighting a battle of the algae for about a year so i bought the ro/di and it really hasn't changed..maybe gotten worse.
I'm going to check a bottle of water I have too, to see what it says. |

| OK Aquafina bottled water was 2ppm, ro/di now at 22 after a quick membrane flush, filtered fridge water at 59 and tap water up to 90.....hmmmmmmm anyone know how long you flush the membrane for? I just use it for top offs and water changes. This is the ro/di unit I have. Most of the instructions were in Japanese and doesn't really tell you more than how to hook it up.
