How are your Corals and inverts doing?

ca is @ 650. My kh is @ 7
with Ca @ 650, dKH should be around 30
with dKH @ 7, Ca should be around 420
bump the dKH 1-2 a day until the ratios match
if Ca @ 550 dKH should be 28
if Ca @ 500 dKH should be 18
if Ca @ 450 dKH should be 14
stop supps until the tank is correct

Quote:
I use a 5 gallon water bottle that I fill with RO and supplements
only use ro/di water for topoff
do not mix supps with topoff
evap topoff is just that, topping off the water without salt or supps
if your parameters are off then use a supp to correct it
dont do both at the same time
keep them seperate

Quote:
I don't have a mag. test kit
you need one Mg nsw is 1280 but with high Ca or dkH, Mg should be 1450-1550
Mg is the buffer between Ca and dKH

Quote:
salinity 1.022
should be 1.026

Quote:
If I constantly adjust kh to desired level, my calcium will slowly drop?
yes they work hand in hand

Quote:
I just added my first sps
i would wait until you figure out what your doing with the parameters

what you need to do is figure out your dKH consumption rate, that will help lay the ground work for all other parameters. dont try and supp just Sr, youll fry your tank. the corals you have are not high demand Ca thriving corals, so this may require some patience. take your time.

_________

just one little sps frag tank with lots of goodies

If you are going to dose your tank use one of these.
