Antibiotics are being over used because the public demands it even though as doctors, we know there are very few infections that need to be treated with antibiotic that present to your office or the emergency dept..
Sorry to get off the subject, but being an Emergency Physician, I see this every day! People come in with colds, flu, viral gastroenterits (vomiting&diarrhia), and ear infections and want antibiotics which does not work for any of these illnesses.
