| Carbon removes plankton? So here is a quick question. I've been dosing my tank with phytoplankton for the filter feeding critters. I also run activated carbon. Now, does the carbon remove any of the plankton from the water column. I know carbon removes organics from water, but does plankton fall under that catergory, is it too large to be removed by the carbon...just wondering. |

| I do not believe it will. The carbon will absorb impurities in the water, but I believe plankton is too large for the carbon pores. I could be mistaken though. Now if the plankton dies and liquifies, that is a whole different issue, then it will be removed by the carbon. |

| I'm against running carbon at all unless there is a reason to (something you know to be toxic dies in your tank or releases toxins), or something gets sprayed into the tank, etc. If you absolutely insist on running carbon, run it maybe 2-3 days a month, unless like i said- otherwise indicated. _________ Kibbles and bits and bits and bites, and bacon and bits and kibbles and bits......
