Too small. Minimum tank size referenced is 75 gallons. I've got a small one in my 55. Will return or, give away when it gets too big. Mines a worker.

Is it the color, shape or, you just like yellow tangs? There are alot of cool fish that can be recommended for a 24g. . What are you interested in?

if you can find say a tiny baby tang then you could have one in that 29 although not recomended they are slow growers so if you had a 1" tang it would be fine for a year or so IMO

Don't recommend that idea. Baby tangs are a gamble when bought. That's my opinion though. Why are you so ademate about a yellow tang?

You could, but why would you unless planning to move to larger tank down the road.???

They are relatively slow growers and suspect those tiny ones I see at LFS now and then would do great in a smaller tank whereas they may be overwhelmed by other fish in a larger.

They do tend to be a pretty docile fish.

Go ahead, just be sure to have a larger tank to move it into later.

Totally agree, just be very selective when picking out/buying a baby tang.

i have a yellow tang and a blue tang for my 55 (soon going to a 75) and when they outgrow those i am just gunna trade them in at my lfs for smaller versions of them selves ahah

I obviously get much more emotionally attached to my particular fish then you do.

Was very traumatic event for self and whole family when we had to move our hippo on to a larger tank at local nursery. (tried to get Seattle Aquarium to take it, but they were not interested...next time, if there is one, will make more effort with them.)


I personally would be much more inclined to get a larger tank and keep my fish friends.

Ahhhhh, like I always say, "My current tank is just sump for next...
