When is a fish to big? My tank has been up for 9 years and the only time in the last 3 years that I have lost a fish (not a clean anemone) they have been pretty large. 3 yrs ago then 2 yrs ago I lost a Foxface each time. I think that they actually got to big and were not able to supplement their diet anymore by grazing. I say this because after the 2nd on died I suddenly had an algae problem. They also were probably 8 inches or so long. My questions are numerous now on this and first would like some in put on whether or not they can get to big? I also noticed now that I was researching it, various opinions. I have a Koran that is 6-7 inches long and I am worried that it may just be to big or close to it. Two different sources that I think should be reliable have two different answers. One says 150 gal min tank and the other 55; I got the avg. though at 110 . How can they put a size on a fish when they all vary so much? Is it based on the average adult size?
Also if you spilt hairs on this what is 150 gallon tank (or 55) refering to? Total volome? I know Tangster will have a say and I'm glad to get it, but what do you all use as your research bible for something like this or for any thing.... reef related?
