I've got a peaceful tank with a maroon clown that has hosted my bubble coral. It's only mean to my green chromis when they get close to the BC. No problems with six-line, mandarin dragonet, fierefish, a very neurotic blenny and I know I'm forgetting something. Thay are known to be aggressive though.

They tend to lean towards the agressive side, remember clowns are related to damsels...We have a very peaceful mated pair of true percs, but then we have a pair of Orange Skunks that are bit more rough...Maroons definitely lean towards the more aggressive...

I am thinking about adding a flame angel. I know they tend to push to the limits of a 29 but still acceptable. I just do not know how they do with maroons.

A flame angel in a 29 with a pair of Maroons is pushing it, imho. Maroons need space and are very defensive of what they declare their own...which is going to be all of your tank.

A flame needs free space to thrive and grow.

You would most be likely looking at a continuous battle and allot of fish stress.

Mature maroons are not going to be happy fish in there when they get larger.

If you need to add something, add something small. Lots of cool small gobies.

Or if you have a good amount of LR, a little Dragonet may do well.

Whatever you do, keep it something small and peaceful.

A couple of small Damsels may be hardy enough to withstand the Maroons, and learn to stay out of their way.

Otherwise you are going to have allot of constant squabbling...

Unfortunately you are starting out with a pair of very aggressive and territorial fish.

Good Luck on whatever you decide.
