Default Watchman has lost his yellow

I have had this yellow watchman for 4-5 years.. let me tell you this is one tough fish! I have done everything in my powers to kill the little guy (all unintentionally) He accidentally was sucked into a dump bucket when I broke my 90 down and left in water that went well below 60 F and thrown back into 77 F water without acclimation and a few other things that I don’t really recall but know it wasn’t proper fish care. Well about a year and a half ago he lost his yellow and is sort of a beige color with grey bands but he still has his blue spots. Other then the color he’s doing great. I saw another YW goby at the LFS that was beige and grey and asked one of the associates about it and he didn’t have much of an answer… Anybody experience this or knows about it?

I believe that the females turn grayish as they age. I have one that is grayish too. I read an article on rc about breeding them that mentioned this. can't recal the title off hand. Hoep this helps.

Yes I actually just read that very article. The females are more greyish/beige and the males stay yellow. You can also tell the gender by it's dorsal fins.
