Default Too many tangs?

I just received an order from Liveaquaria with three tangs for my 175g bowfront. I thought I had ordered one Purple (Zebrasoma), one White Cheek (Acanthurus) and one Kole (Ctenochaetus). I accidently ordered a Blue/Regal (Paracanthurus) instead of the Kole, though.

Since all four af from differant genus, would they live peacefully together if I went ahead and added the Kole? Is that simply too much tang for a 175g tank? I really wanted the Kole ... but the Blue is very cute. (It's only 1.5" long right now.)

Mickey,

Michael Paletta has three full grown tangs in a 240 gallon tank. You would jut squeak by with your 175 gallon. I would trade either the White Cheek or Blue for the Kole as they consume completely different algea.

Just tryin to recreate God's perfection in a glass bowl. 20 Gallon Reef W/Live Rock, mated pair of Maroon Clowns, Softies, 110 watts PC 10,000k lighting, and skimmer.

I think it's too late to trade. I'm quite fond of the White Cheek, and once my wife saw the Blue ... well, &quotori" now has perminant spot in the tank.

Tangs are lively and very much interesting fishes! Have fun rearing them!

ps. Did you quarantine? I hope so. They have a knack for getting and carrying ich parasites. I hope yours do not have them.

_________

I retired the reef for now. Maybe a nano or a softies tank in the future when I have both time and money. 60 gallon FOWLR in the meantime. My echidna nebulosa are still going strong!
