aren't clowns notorious for acclimation problems anyway? i've always understood that they're hardy as all get-out, but acclimation is a PITA a lot of times

There is one thought I have on this and it is Brooklynella hostilis AKA Clownfish Disease

Brooklynella hostilis. It is most closely and commonly associated with subfamily Clownfish members of the Damselfish family, and therefore is typically referred to as Clownfish Disease

Brooklynella Disease Education from FishVet, Inc.

Default I would try a differnt LPS

HI,
I have had problems with true percula and , better luck with clarki, and my marrons are mean little buggers, Some LPS use the same suppliers due to discounts. I always feed spiralla to all my fish daily even when I feed fresh thawed myosis I have read more than one post that spirella may help the animals immune system.
Ask them to keep it for a couple weeks on layaway and you may see the problem is the supplier not you, if they won't hold it for you Run.....
Doug

ps if your tanks has a spec grav of 1.026 and your LPS stays at 1.023 and your ph is 8.4 and their ph is 8.2
thats a pretty drastic change and could cause shock, fish are tuff but they hate change.
and remember your spec grav device can be off by as much as 4 points check it againts the LPS when mine reads 1.025 it really 1.023 on my 50 buck one.
If your lps keeps fish at 72 and your tanks 82.. there's so many things that can shock fish. my local lps started using chillers on some tank, ( which can slow down that ick cycle and other nasties low temp seems to help some corals ) then you take them home warm them up and they crap out..

Yeah, I went over it with the owner who I deal with every time I'm in there. My tank is within 2*F of his tanks and my spec grav is exactly the same.

I think I just need to do some kind of voodoo dance around the tank...

Weird...

You may need a "clowncsorsist" *Tubular Bells chiming in the back-round*

I'm not trying to be smart but that is really weird.

Sorry for your predicament..

ps: Hopefully there is a clown out there who will love your tank

That is crazy. For the most part my clownfish have been the hardiest to keep. You mite order a clown from a different place and see what it does. Your supplier mit e be using some kinda copper to treat his fish, and clownfish are one of those fish that dont really like copper. Best of luck, clownfish are really cool to have.
