| Yes...for the most part different species should do fine together! One important aspect to consider with this is to have a large tank! Tangs are grazers and cover large areas in their natural surroundings searching for algal matter!
With a small sized tank, you may have trouble with aggression though nowhere as much so as if you were to keep say multiple Yellow or Purple Tangs or a mixture of each!
Now this being said, I would go out on a limb and say that if you had say a 200gallon tank or larger, you may be able to keep a couple Yellow Tangs together with no ill effect. I know also, having had the experience, first hand, to witness 20 or more Atlantic Blue Tangs schooling together in search of food showing no agressive nature towards another!
Like any fish, there are going to be exceptions to the rule in your favor or negatively so... _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | I have kept a Purple Tang and Blue hippo Tang together. They would occasionally spar but for the most part they left each other alone. I now have a Purple Tang about 6-7" and a Powder Blue together in my 120g and they get along just fine now although the P.Tang gets a little aggressive during feeding. The P.Tang however, does like to harass my larger Moorish Idol for some reason.
The bottom line is that you never know whats going to happen till you put them together for several days. _________ 75g reef with Nova Extreme 8 bulb HO T-5 lighting, refuge, Remora skimmer, DSB, Seio powerheads, Acro's, LPS corals, assorted zoo's & mushrooms, Yellow Tang, Maroon Clown, Blue Cleaner Goby , Cleaner, Fire and Sexy Shrimp, Coco Worm, T.Crocea Clam, Derasa Clam

| My Yellow, hippo & Red Sea Sailfin tangs all get along great with each other. They were however introduced to tank at one time & very young.
When later I inquired about adding a purple to the mix, my LFS told me it was sure to tangle with the yellow. Not because of different colors, but because of similar body shapes.
Took his word for it and never tried it.
Whatever you decide on, get them small and introduce all together. (make sure tank is well established and can handle bioload)
Good Luck

| Hi HI,
My LPS will not sell more than 1 tang per tank, not sure if this over kill, but he says they can be very aggresive toward fish of the same size and shape, ditto for most angels.
Another thing is that most Tangs seem to have that Ick alot, maybe be the species or the skin.

My tangs are very happy tank mates that have always gotten along...trick was to start them young and together.

A 120gallon tank with what you have( all growing to an impressive size), except for the Damsels! All are dramatic waste producers, and therefore will depreciate your water value... |
