A mating pair of maroon clowns will not tolerate other fish sharing their space in such a small tank.

well i am happy my yellow tang isnt aggressive, cause i learned what an aggresive fish can do in my native tank (A pumpkinseed sunny.....) and now have only 3 puny fishies in there. I personally have a Ocellaris Clown, 2 "bicolor chromis", a firefish, a coral beauty dwarf angel, yellow tang, pajama cardinal, mandarin (manny the mandarin), and my little neon blue goby. Some may argue that my tank may be overstocked, but when you check my params, which haave never tested above 5< nitrates and 0 nitrite and ammonia, i would sometimes beg to differ. + i love my fishies....

Well guys, talked to the guy at the LFS a couple days ago about a tang or angelfish that i could put in.. he suggested a dwarf angel, however he had a 1.5" kole tang there that he said i could take on consignment and it was only $30!!! canadian!!! which is nice because i can finally say our dollar is worth more than the american dollar If he gets too big for my tank before i upgrade he said he'd take him back for half the price i got him for.. kinda sucks but hopefully i'll be upgraded first! Anyways, i ended up with a kole tang for $30 and 2 emerald crabs for $6 each and a wee little cleaner shrimp! Thanks for the advice!

He shouldnt outgrow a 40gal in anytime soon. Heck i heard from my LFS that you can oput them in a 30gal (alone that is) and they would be okay (happy and eating). Glad you found a fish! $30 that beats the $45 in my LFS.........

Well, i'm now considering adding an angel as well as the kole tang. I've narrowed it down to a coral beauty, fischer's angel, or a yellowfin angel. Any personal experience with any of those? What about reef safe? I know any angel can be different, just wondering if down the road any of these would be better than others if i decide to do a reef tank?

If you must add an angel, I would go with the coral beauty. They're considered "reef safe" but most fish don't read fish books, mags and bulletin boards so they might not know that they don't always eat corals
