| Snowflake eel? I'm thinking about getting a snowflake eel.
I have a 30 gal tank with live rock, coral, button pollips a couple of small crabs/snails a carpet anemone a clown and a peppermint shrimp. Is the eel a bad idea? Whos going to get eaten? I do know they are escape artists. |

| My .02
I had a snowflake from baby to 18".. I ended up putting him up for adoption to the LFS, not cause he ever ate anything, infact he was quite peaceful. I saw the full grown size and decided in the long term he would not be happy in anythin under a 120gallon.
I moved tanks and took the opportunity to release him. Fun 6 months though. Definately a cool addition.
He ate many many many of my crabs though.
\Cheers |

| Mainly crabs and shrimp would be a problem with being eaten. Fish are not as big a threat as this type of eel(can tell by their teeth) has a jaw with molar type teeth for crushing shells, not sharp teeth that are associated with piscivores.
I have never had a problem with small fish in my tank with a Snowflake, but crabs and shrimp arrouses their interest! _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | Ok so if i like the crabs i say no the the eel. So does anyone have a suggestion on an addition to my tank.(29gl bio cube with upgrades) It's small so theirs not much room for big fish but id like to add something different. The clown is moving to a bigger tank so theres going to be nothing active to watch. |

| If you really want a snowflake eel, maybe put it in the bigger tank with the clown. Maybe buy a pair of Kauderns Cardinals for the 29 gallon. _________ |
