Default Sixline pics...

I do love my Sixline wrasse. (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia)

Going thru rather vast tank photo collection and just wanted to see these all in one place. (Actually quite hard to get a decent pic of this fish as it very rarely sits still long or slows down enough to catch it. So is very rare occasion that I even get a halfway decent pic of it... )

(From: I Love My Sixline)

Besides its incredible beauty, it is great fun to watch whizzing around tank, playing in heavy water current and "schooling" around with other fish.

It is a fish with wonderful characteristics.

It will eat flatworms, bristle worms, small nuisance snails (esp. those that prey on clams) and is known to act as a "cleaner" to other fish that might be afflicted with some parasite such as Ick.

I often see it carefully inspecting my larger fish, which will hold still for it to do so.

While it does carry a bad rep for being overly aggressive, mine is the most docile, mellow and fish friendly in the tank. The reason being it was the last fish to be added to the population, other then my flame wrasse, which it does not bother at all. It seems to be that they will not tolerate new fish.

He has lots of personality and fun to watch him following around my coral beauty which his best friend.

The only downside that I have heard of, is that it also loves copepods which will put it in competition with other pod eaters, such as mandarins. But my mandarin is a fat little sausage so does not seem to be a problem in my tank.

So for a cheap, colorful and playful addition to a already established fish population, consider adding a sixline wrasse.

It is the perfect reef fish.

I love mine.

Great shots, Omar. Have you ever had any problems with your 6line and any shrimp? I recently lost a pair of peppermint shrimp the first night I had them and was wondering if my 6line was the culprit......

You know, now that you mention it, I have not seen my pepermints in ages either...

But they were around long time with just the sixline...ummmm, got me wondering about either relatively new Coris Wrasse or Dragon Goby...

Sorry to have ruined your good vibes about the 6line. I love mine as well. So much energy and movement. But I do miss having shrimp in the tank...

Love the pictures; I have had two wrasses over the years.

First a mystery wrasse, which I bought before the student loan repayment kicked in. Lost it to a power outage

Second was a Six line, which I never knew what happened to it. One day it was just stuck to the power head.

I miss them both!!! I love to watch Wrasses...

The Mystery was a terror on the inverts!!! He would pull crabs from their shells and parade around the tank with them hanging out of his mouth. It was kinda funny to watch.

Evan.

Thanks Evan (et.al.)

My sixline has been with me for going on 6 years now. Was a favorite from the getgo.

Really demonstrated to me what "personality" meant in a fish. Most all have some, but few as exuberant as this little fish.

Energetic, playfull, dazzlingly beautiful when you look closely.

For a "cheap" fish, is hard to beat.
